Joobie Shad Fly

This shad fly is part of The Pfeiffer Collection.

The Joobie is a shad fly first tied by Tom McNally in 1952. It is a very nice looking floss bodied fly, and I was surprised that I could not find any other mention of it online. While times and flies change, I am glad to help preserve some of the classics. I learn something new with each classic shad fly that I tie.

The Joobie Shad Fly Pattern:

Hook: 6, 4x Long (I chose a 2x hook)
Thread: Danville’s Fluorescent White Nylon
Tail: Yellow Duck Pointer Quill
Body: White Floss
Ribbing: Flat Silver Tinsel
Hackle: Yellow Saddle Hackle tied in wetfly style
Head: Yellow UTC 140
Eyes: Painted On Red and Black
