Orlando Outfitters is hosting a Shad Fishing Q&A that I will be participating in on January 25, 2023 starting at 6:00pm. We will start by providing some information on the St. Johns River shad run. We’ll talk about the areas we fish, gear we like to use, and favorite tactics and then answer questions on shad and catching them with a fly rod.
Immediately following the Q&A, I will provide fly tying instruction to a total group of 10 people (reservations required, see below) for my Gambusia Hairwing Shad Fly. This fly is a twist on a classic pattern, fashioned to look like a Mosquitofish, and is one that I have fished the last 2-3 seasons, but it has not been added to the BLOG (yet.)
No reservations are required to attend this event and anyone is welcome to stick around and watch the fly tying portion. However, if you plan to actually tie, you will need to reserve a spot directly with Orlando Outfitters. For more information, visit the event site at:
